history of yoseikan

Yoseikan Budo is based on a wave like movement that starts from the hip. It consists of modified techniques of Judo, Karate, Aikido, and Jujitsu . The use of classical weapons such as Tanto, Bokken, Bo, Nunchaku is part of the art as well as new and traditional forms (kata).

Yoseikan Budo was developed in the early 1960's by Hiroo Mochizuki Sensei. Yoseikan Budo has now spread throughout Africa, Europe and the United States. The FYBDA (Fédération International de Yoseikan Budo et Disciplines Assimilées) is the world governing body. The 1st Yoseikan Budo world championship was held in September 1990 in France.

Yoseikan Aikido is really a composite martial art developed by Minoru Mochizuki, who 1st taught it at his dojo in Shizuoka in 1931. This style of Aikido combines elements of the pre-war Aiki Budo of Morihei Ueshiba, as well as elements of many other martial arts: Aikijujutsu, Judo, Karate, Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu, traditional Jujutsu, Iaijutsu, Kenjutsu, Gyokushin-ryu Jujutsu, Kendo, Yari, Kito-ryu etc. The techniques are executed empty-handed or with weapons
