Baseball  has been known throughout history as America’s national pastime.  It has been around for centuries, and continues to be among the top sports played all over the world.  Baseball is a fairly simple game, however it requires a lot of equipment compared to other sports such as soccer and basketball.

 

Basketball  is a newer sport considering the long history of sports such as baseball and soccer, however it has also grown to be one of the most popular sports in America as well as the world.

Ice Hockey  One feature that makes hockey very different from most other sports is that it does not use a ball.  Instead, hockey uses a small, oval shaped rubber disc called a “puck”.

Lacrosse  was America’s first sport.  The first lacrosse games were said to have been played by Indian tribes, such as the Cherokees and the Six Tribes of the Iroquois.  These Native American tribes had varying versions of the game that would later be known as lacrosse.

Soccer  The game of soccer involves a lot of skill, but not necessarily a lot of equipment.  While the concepts and theories behind soccer can quite simple, playing the sport is far from easy.

Tennis  is a sport that has been around for centuries.  It is a very popular and intense sport.  The game of tennis requires little equipment to be played.  In order to compete in a tennis match, one must only possess tennis balls and a tennis racquet.

Volleyball   is a game that has been around for about the as long as basketball.  In fact, volleyball was invented in 1895, which was only 4 years prior to the invention of basketball.

Water polo  was one of the last sports to evolve.  It takes place in an element that is not natural for man, and it’s history or origins don’t correspond with the history of other sports, in which they were used to develop war and hunting skills.
