No Further Penalties for Texas Tech
The NCAA has accepted the penalties Texas Tech self-imposed for practice violations committed last year under then-head coach Billy Gillispie:
Hocutt said the NCAA contacted Tech late last week and notified the school that the violations were deemed secondary, and no further action would be taken on top of the penalties Tech had already imposed and served.
Given the circumstances surrounding the case, it would not have been surprising if the NCAA had found more. The student-athlete complaints could have been a sign that the excess practice time was not an isolated incident on a couple of days. Normally in cases like this the school and/or the NCAA will do a wider review, so given that the penalties have been accepted, it appears this will be the end of it for Texas Tech.
