Belhaven University, established in 1883, is a private Christian liberal arts college located in Jackson, Mississippi. Additional satellite campuses are located in Houston, Texas, Memphis, Tennessee, and Orlando, Florida. The university has a student body of approximately 3,250 and has a student to faculty ratio of 12:1. Belhaven University is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. Athletics Department at Belhaven University
The athletics department at Belhaven University seeks to provide its student-athletes with an enriching athletic and academic experience. Student-athlete services offered by the athletic department include athletic training, strength and conditioning, as well as academic advising and tutoring.
The athletics facilities at Belhaven University include the Heidelberg Gymnasium for basketball and volleyball, the Smith-Wills Stadium for baseball, the H.T. Newell Field for football and soccer, the Belhaven Tennis Complex, the Blazer Power Weight Room, and the Blazer Athletic Training Room. There is also a fitness center located on campus.
Athletics Programs at Belhaven University
At Belhaven University, student-athletes may choose to either participate in varsity sports or intramural sports. Varsity sports offered include men’s basketball, baseball, football, golf, cross country, track and field, soccer and tennis, as well as women’s basketball, soccer, cross country, softball, track and field, tennis, and volleyball. Intramural sports are offered on a seasonal basis and include volleyball, dodgeball, basketball and indoor soccer, as well as 16 non-traditional intramural sports such as foursquare, capture the flag, and more.
Official Sports Team: Blazers
The Belhaven Blazers are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, with most varsity teams competing in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The football team competes in the Mid-South Conference. A number of varsity sports teams hold championship titles. The baseball and softball teams both won conference championships in 2011, and the men’s soccer team won a national championship in 2012. The most popular Blazers team is football. The Blazers also succeed academically, with an average of 165 student-athletes in the Belhaven 3.0 GPA club.

All students who wish to apply for scholarships at Belhaven University must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form. Many students at Belhaven University receive scholarships that are either awarded based on academic achievement or financial need. In fact, 90% of students receive some kind of financial aid, many of whom are on scholarships. Merit scholarships are awarded only to full-time students who are enrolled in an academic program with the goal of completing a bachelor’s degree. Undergraduate merit scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $12,000 and also include athletic scholarships based on coaches’ recommendations.
