Allegheny College is a distinguished private liberal arts institution with a coeducational student population. It is located in northwestern Pennsylvania in the town of Meadville. Athletics Department of Allegheny College
Non-varsity students at Allegheny College partner with their own Athletics Department in creating fitness awareness and athletic interest by initiating recreational sports through sports clubs and intramurals. Popular among them are Cheerleading, Equestrian, Fencing, Rowing, Men’s and Women’s Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, Men’s Volleyball, Running and Men’s Ice Hockey. For the student-athletes, the college maintain modern facilities to achieve sporting excellence. The main sports facilities are the Robertson Complex for Baseball, Cross Country, Football, Lacrosse, Softball, Soccer, Tennis, and Track & Field; Wise Center for Basketball, Fitness Center, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball; The Country Club of Meadville for Golf; and the Westwood Racquet Club for Tennis.

Allegheny is a North Coast Athletic Conference (ANCC) and a National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III member, where it actively competes in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Swimming & Diving, Tennis, and Track & Field for Men. Women athletes participate in Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Swimming & Diving, Tennis, Track & Field and Volleyball. An important key in winning games rely on the head coach whose leadership and game plan must blend seamlessly. Recruitment of new athletes is trusted to the expertise and wisdom of the head coach also.

The Allegheny College Gators have diehard fans that eagerly watch their games or follow them through live feeds. The energy that resonates from the crowd gives extra boost to the already pumped up athletes. Among the greatest achievements of the Gators is winning the Division III football national championship way back in 1990, led by a first-year head coach. The Gators have many other awards in team and individual categories in intercollegiate tournaments including ANCC.

Two basic types of scholarships are offered by Allegheny College, the first one is based on academic merit and the other is a need-based scholarship. Some form of financial aid benefits more than 96% of the students and more than 70% qualify for need-based support. The Endowed Scholarship Funds, the Allegheny Annual Fund Grant Program, and the Annual Fund Support are noteworthy among the scholarships.
