About American International College
American International College was founded in 1885 and chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on the 18th of September of the same year. Its purpose is to educate overseas immigrants. Immigrants went to AIC in order to ensure success.
As of this writing, the institution is located in Springfield, Massachusetts. With interracial, interfaith and international thrusts, AIC offers academics where liberal arts serve as core. Also available are Schools of Arts, Education and Sciences; Business Administration; Health Sciences; and Continuing Education.
American International College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification; Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education; the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education; the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education; and Business Accreditation with the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. The mission of the college is to prepare students for personal fulfillment, professional achievement and civic engagement through transformative educational experiences.
Athletics Department of American International College
The mission of American International College Department of Athletics is to promote excellence in academics and athletics. With its comprehensive athletics program, the department helps student-athletes enrich their college experience. They demonstrate quality performance both on and off the field. Moreover, its vision is to provide a program that gives competitive athletic opportunities supportive of the academic program.
American International College coaches and administrators are competent educators and experts in their disciplines, and their dedication to training the student-athletes remains thorough and extensive. Also, student-athletes enjoy state-of-the-art facilities that provide adequate opportunities to develop skills and abilities through recreational pursuits. This presents a balanced management of the needs of the student-athletes.
Athletic Programs of American International College
American International College’s athletic programs include men’s basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, football, ice hockey, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, wrestling and track & field. Women’s sports have cross country, basketball, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, softball, track & field, tennis and volleyball. Non-NCAA sports are cheerleading and rugby.
The American International College Varsity Club assists the university in promoting the interests of students-athletes. It’s most recent accomplishment is generating funding that created new practice fields. Likewise, the club supports all alumni games, maintenance of annual operating expenses and other services that support the athletic programs of American International College.
OFFICIAL SPORTS TEAM: Yellow Jackets
American International College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Also, the NCAA Division 1 men’s hockey program of the American International College Yellow Jackets is a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association, and the school was one of the nine founding members of the AHA in 2003.
American International College offers 22 varsity athletic programs. 21 of these varsity programs compete at the NCAA Division II level, while 20 of these varsity programs also compete in the Northeast-10 Conference. Northeast-7 currently sponsors programs that compete in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s track and field and women’s volleyball.
Guide to Athletic Scholarships for American International College
American International College scholarships, grants and loans are work-study programs given to students based on their academic achievements. For example, financial aid is given to transfer students by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
American International College transfer scholarships include Transfer Presidential Scholarship; Transfer Provost Scholarship; and Transfer Opportunity Scholarship. Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships are honors programs for two-year colleges.
American International College scholarships also include the PTK Presidential Scholarship and the PTK Provost Scholarship. Also available in the scholarship list are the Academic Opportunity Grants at a minimum of $6,500; Presidential Scholarship at $11,000; and Presidential Scholarship for Transfer Students at $5,000.
