The university is occupying more than 1,840 acres of land housing and fulfilling the dreams of nearly 25,000 students.
Athletics Department of Auburn University
The athletics department of Auburn University encourages diversity and equitable treatment for all, abides by the rules of athletic regulatory bodies, educates student-athletes, wins championships, and brings credit to the Auburn population. The Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) promotes, assists and counsels student-athletes in their academics, admissions, career, eligibility, financial aid and healthy behavior.
The constant goal of Auburn University is to produce student-athletes who are not only athletically competent, but also competitive in the academics exhibiting excellence, class, maturity, and a whole individual. Moreover, AU promotes sportsmanship among its athletes, students, coaches, staff, and supporters. In Auburn, it means playing fairly, acting respectfully towards others, and promoting the interests and good name of the university in and out of the playing fields.
Auburn University has a fitness area named The James T. Tatum, Jr. Strength and Conditioning Center. It has state-of-the-art facilities, and the center encompasses over 14,000 square feet. The facility was built at a cost of $2.7 million.

The Auburn Tigers is a member of the Southeastern Conference, competes at the NCAA Division I and is represented by 19 varsity teams in 13 sports. Auburn University earned championships in the following events: men’s swimming and diving; women’s swimming and diving; equestrian; football; women’s outdoor track and field.
Men’s swimming and diving, women’s golf, football, baseball, men’s cross country, women’s basketball, women’s swimming and diving, men’s indoor track and field, men’s outdoor track and field, men’s golf, men’s basketball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s soccer and women’s soccer are just some of the sporting events that the Auburn Tigers has won through the years. The total number of national championships won by Auburn Tigers as of this writing is 19, while SEC championships total to 79.
