Athletics Department of Bentley University
Equipped with 12 outdoor and indoor basketball courts, volleyball courts, fitness center and an Olympic-sized swimming pool and diving tank, Bentley University ensures an ideal training environment for its varsity teams and for other students who are sports enthusiasts. A building called Charles A. Dana Physical Education Center (Dana center) has been the venue for NCAA Division II Tournament games, Massachusetts State Schoolboy tournament, Northeast 10 tournament, Women’s Division II Fab Four and the New England invitational mile. The state-of-the-art facilities of Bentley University has been the home of The Falcons basketball and volleyball team since 1973, which has undergone renovations to accommodate more people and to enhance the wellness experience of the athletes and non-competing students and individuals with its steam and sauna baths, fitness center, therapy room and locker facilities.

Aside from the 23 varsity teams in men’s and women’s sports, students can take part in the university’s club sports, recreational activities and fitness or wellness programs. Men’s sports include soccer, basketball, football, baseball, ice hockey, lacrosse, swimming and diving, tennis, cross country and track and Field. For women, Bentley University has volleyball, basketball, football, soccer, cross country, tennis, field hockey, lacrosse, swimming and diving and track and field.
Students can also choose from various activities and sports that range from cheerleading, sailing and dancing to active sports like rugby and ultimate Frisbee, in which men and women engage in separate teams. Recreational activities focus on programs like sports camps where top coaches from all over the country are assisted by outstanding players to help educate the students not only in game strategies and sports skills, but also in incorporating valuable life experiences that can serve as life lessons for students.
OFFICIAL SPORTS TEAM: Bentley Falcons
The official mascot of the Bentley Falcons is “Flex the Falcon”. All Bentley Falcons varsity teams compete in NCAA Division II level, Northeast 10 Conference, except for the men’s hockey team. The men’s hockey division competes in the Division I level and forms part of the six teams that founded the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA).
Bentley University’s track record in basketball boasts of a winning streak that started in February 23, 2008 onwards, with the men’s team beating St. Michael’s college. As of this writing, they hold the record for having a winning streak that lasted the longest in the history of Division II level competitions. Notable winnings include the rugby team’s claim to the title of “Beast of the East” in the 2008 tournament, as well as two national titles in Division III level.
