What are State Grants?
State Grants are similar to scholarships in that they’re a form of financial aid. However, they are distributed solely based on need and not by merit. State governments have these grants for eligible students who need financial aid in order to go to college.
These grants are more specifically given to financially needy students so you must apply and qualify for a state grant in order to receive the financial aid. Students who are interested in looking and applying for state grants should start researching the grants available in their state. You can look for grants by student-type, subject, degree level, and minority.
These grants are not loans, so they will not need to be paid back by the students who accept them. But state grants are given only to those low income families and students who need it the most. If you want to apply for grants start here.
